City of Nedlands streamlines compliance thanks to RecordPoint
The City of Nedlands, a small organization in the inner-western suburbs of Perth, needed a solution to manage its compliance. In particular, the city needed assistance with its classification and disposal process for all records, including sensitive information like PII and PCI, as well as Redundant, Obsolete, and Trivial information (ROT). After a standard request for proposal process, RecordPoint emerged as the clear winner thanks to its in-place data management and machine learning (ML) data classification capabilities.
Manage in-place throughout the data lifecycle
With RecordPoint's assistance, the city connected to its Electronic Document and Record Management System (Microsoft SharePoint365 – SP365) to provide the records classification and retention tasks as required by state regulations.
Discover content throughout the data estate
Once all the data sources have been connected, RecordPoint’s powerful search features enable the city’s records team to find content instantly. RecordPoint’s data classification and intelligence signals features allow the city to easily locate sensitive information like personally identifiable information (PII) and payment card information (PCI), as well as redundant, obsolete, and trivial information (ROT).
In-place disposal helps reduces the risk and cost of data hoarding
Thanks to RecordPoint, when data reaches the end of its retention period and is no longer required, it can be disposed of in-place. This reduces the risk and the ongoing storage and related costs associated with holding onto data for too long.
An expert team that communicated throughout the project
An organized, communicative team made for a smooth process. The city was kept informed and supported through both the initial implementation stage and the ongoing management.
“Work was completed above our satisfaction limits and expectations,” Nalin Dias, Information Technology Governance Coordinator said.
“We've never experienced such a great team performance, across project management, implementation, training, communication, and sharing information with other major projects. It was the most memorable part of our experience.”
